The Africa and International Friends Inaugural Ball, one of the largest
events to celebrate the nation's first black president, will be staged
Jan. 20 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Oxon Hill,
organizers said yesterday. The ball was conceived as "a festival of the
cultures of the world" and will be hosted by Kenya, birthplace of
President-elect Barack Obama's father.
Celebrities such as Aretha Franklin will be on hand. Usher, Patti LaBelle
and the O'Jays are expected to perform. So are an Israeli artist,
Brazilian dancers and a South African a cappella group.

Body By Milk is giving teens a shot to make Usher’s
music video. Not just for him. With him. Teen crews will collaborate with
Usher to come up with a video concept for his latest single and work
together to create, direct and produce a music video – in just one week.

Update: MTV reports that Usher's 2nd sons name is, Naviyd Ely Raymond. Born at 2:33 am, weighing 5 lbs, 13 ounces.

Usher will bring in 2009 with a special New Year’s Eve party at
the Bank.
The Light Group, which owns the Bank, made the announcement this
afternoon.
Organizers promise the multi-platinum Grammy-award winner’s soirée will be
"a special countdown that party people won’t soon forget."
Tickets to the star-studded New Year’s Eve party at the Bank start at $150
per person and include a midnight champagne toast.
Table service is also available, from $1,000 with a two-bottle minimum,
and includes a "complimentary" bottle of Dom Pérignon champagne.

ESSENCE: Throughout the blogosphere, folks
speculated about whether you, Usher and Tameka communicate. Do you?
CHILLI: I don't have any contact with her. I have not spoken to her in years.
There's no relationship at all between us. I haven't spoken to Usher, either.
When people ask whether or not I think she is the reason we broke up, I have no
clue what Usher was doing outside of our relationship. When we broke up, it was
because it wasn't working out. I later found out there was some infidelity, but
he never said who that woman or who those women were, because I'm sure it was
more than one. Again, I heard things, but Tameka never crossed my mind.
The first time I strolled across that [infamous] beach photo I thought somebody photoshopped that. I didn't believe it. I did wonder if she was one of the girls, but again, I never asked. My memory of her was that she was the stylist, because she dressed Usher and I for an event one time. Honestly, those are questions I never asked him, and I've distanced myself so much from him. We aren't communicating at all. We broke up, had conversation a few times maybe two years after we broke up, and it was a wrap. I think what keeps it alive at all is these [blogs] speculating whether we'd get back together.

the Tabernacle.

way, what made him rehire his mom as manager (as well), or what the biggest
artist of 2004 thinks is happening with his latest CD “Here I Stand” — sitting
at No. 92 on Billboard’s pop chart this week, and not a single hit on its Hot
100.

Usher is expecting a new baby in mid-December, so he might get his Christmas
gift early. His fans will be getting their holiday present from him a little
later, however — the Atlanta megastar is dropping a new LP in the beginning of
2009.
